Cultural Arts For Everyone is bringing the incredible Samara Joy to the Cannon Center to Kickoff our celebration of Black Music Month. To hear acclaimed vocalist Samara Joy perform live is to feel the emotional resonance of every lyric. She approaches the American Songbook with respect and playfulness, honoring the legacy of vocal masters from Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, and Billy Eckstine through Dianne Reeves, Kurt Elling, and CΓ©cile McLorin Salvant. With her Grammy Award-Winning Verve Records debut, Linger Awhile, 23-year-old Bronx native makes her case to join the likes of Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Miss Nancy Wilson as the next jazz singing sensation recorded by the venerable label. Her voice, rich and velvety yet precociously refined, has already earned her millions of likes on TikTok ? cementing her status as perhaps the first Gen Z jazz singing star.
